The Bureau of Criminal Identification is responsible for ensuring that all concealed firearm permit applicants receive proper training according to Utah Code 53-5-704. The Bureau will issue, certify, and regulate all concealed firearm permit holders and instructors. It is the
responsibility of every concealed firearm permit holder to learn safe gun practices and have a practical knowledge of the laws that govern firearms and the use of force. Permit holders also need to understand their personal abilities and limitations.
To eliminate incidents by providing excellent training and to properly teach the minimum training standards. All applicants must complete general familiarity instruction with the types of firearms to be conceal.
1: Safe loading, unloading, storage, and carrying of the types of firearms to be concealed.
2: Current laws defining lawful self-defense, use of force by private citizens, including use of deadly force, transportation, and concealment.
3: Basic handgun safety training
4: Fundamentals of Shooting a handgun.
5: We will review all Federal and State codes, rules, and regulations that pertain to firearms.
6: Justification of force, rules of arrest, weapons in prohibited areas/circumstances, weapons laws, assault uniform firearm law, justification of force, force in defense of person/forcible felony, force in arrest, force in defense of property, deadly force in defense of persons, possession of dangerous weapons, firearms, or explosives in secure areas, threatening with or using dangerous weapons in a fight or quarrel, carrying a dangerous weapon, firearm on school property, civil vs criminal liability, and carrying a dangerous weapon while under influence of alcohol or drugs.
7: U.S. federal firearms regulations, school zones permitted exception, interstate transportation, possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in federal facilities,
8: Utah Concealed firearms Permit application processing, what must accompany the application, and reciprocity and recognition.
9: This class satisfies Oregon State law for training, with your diploma from this class you can apply for your Oregon State Carry Permit.

Bring with you paper, pen, highlighter, snack, and water, finger prints are included in the class enrollment fee.
Because of the changes in technology and DVD's are not included in PC's anymore please bring a thumb drive to class with you so I can download a number of files that you may find helpful.
